Sylvia Lauren Reich

Sylvia Lauren Reich, age 80 of Cheshire, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Charter Senior Living in Orange with her loving husband and son by her side. She was the devoted wife of Frederick E. Reich for over 58 years. Sylvia was born on August 27, 1945, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Carl and Sylvia (Zello) Longo.

Sylvia was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she completed her undergraduate education, and went on to earn her Master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Her illustrious career began in education, where she dedicated her early years to teaching first grade at Chapman School. However, her passion for home furnishings and interior design led her to join the family business, The Furniture Barn & Manor House. Sylvia devoted 45 years of her life to the furniture industry, exemplifying unwavering commitment and leadership as Vice President and Secretary of the family business until her retirement in 2019. Sylvia had a passion for cooking & baking, fashion, was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling the world with her husband. Sylvia is survived by her beloved husband, Frederick Reich of Cheshire; her son, Jeddrey Reich and his wife, Monica of Westport; and her cherished grandchild, Massiel Ayva Reich as well as loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may greet her family on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 10:30AM until the start of her funeral service at 11AM at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.
