Missy, a first-generation funeral director, was raised in West Haven, and graduated from Lauralton Hall in Milford. After graduation, she followed her calling to funeral service and pursued her degree at the former Briarwood College in Southington, graduating in 1999 with an A.A.S., Mortuary Science. Missy has been a licensed Embalmer in Connecticut since 2000.
In 2003 she accepted a career opportunity to work in Japan as an embalmer for Embalming Services International, a subdivision of the Japanese owned company, Celmo. While in Japan, she had the privilege of guiding the first Japanese embalming students in a clinical lab setting. Throughout the next year, she became immersed in Japanese culture and strived to secure the practice of embalming in the Japanese funeral industry throughout the country, including the cities of Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Kagoshima.
Following the birth of her son, William in 2009, her family relocated to Salida, Colorado, where she worked for the local funeral home and the Colorado Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. Her passion for the art of embalming quickly drew her back into the field, to a Care Center in Tucson, Arizona, where she acquired a dual license in 2011.
In June of 2013 she landed up at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes in Cheshire, Naugatuck, and Waterbury.
She proudly accepted her nomination as board member on the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association Executive Committee in December of 2016, and was elected to serve as the 2025 President of the association.
She has mentored many interns and apprentices, and continues to coordinate internships with professors of the former Lincoln College of New England and Goodwin University as a site preceptor. Paying it forward, Missy devotes herself by helping those embarking on their journey in funeral service. She promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and passing down her many attributes that she gained throughout her well-rounded career to the next generation of funeral directors and embalmers, which has been a main focal point of her career.
Missy resides in Wolcott and is the proud mother of William Miles. She is an avid kayaker, paddling CT lakes and reservoirs and other destinations, finding peace in the beauty of nature. A travel enthusiast, she enjoys adventuring with her son to their favorite Florida destinations and also to St. John, Minnesota, the Pacific Northwest, Belize and Japan.
