CHESHIRE- William “Bill” Donald Maturo, 79, passed away on June 27, 2026 at Midstate Medical Center. He was predeceased by his loving wife Diane Novak Maturo in 2011.
He was born March 15, 1947 in New Haven, son of the late Rocco Pasquale and Virginia Marie (DeSchepper) Maturo.
Bill earned advanced degrees from both Southern CT and Fairfield Universities. He was a Teacher in the Cheshire School System and a Finance Technology Director for the League of Women Voters of CT prior to his retirement.
Bill was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member and Past Master of Temple Lodge #16. He was also past Grand Commander of the CT Court of Chevaliers and former president of the 4th Masonic District Actual Past Masters' Association. He was a member and former Deacon of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, U.C.C. He served as Chair of the Cheshire Youth Services Committee and the Cheshire Food Drive.
He is survived by his brothers, his twin brother Robert and his wife Donna Maturo of East Haven, Alfred and his wife Betty Maturo of Guilford, Edward of Byron, GA, and Thomas Maturo and his partner, Chris Phillips of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He also leaves ten nieces and nephews, Rosemarie Schreiber, Cynthia Lecza, Dennis, Eric, Edward, Douglas and Peter Maturo and Lyn, Patti and Leonard Alter. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Peter Maturo and his wife, Wannetta Maturo; and sister-in-law, Johanne Maturo.
Arrangements- A Memorial Service will be held for Bill on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Alderson Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire. Family and friends may begin gathering at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hamden. Donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O Box 70, Wallingford, 06492.
