CHESHIRE – Virginia “Ginny” C. Kenney, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Civita Care Center in Cheshire. Ginny was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Walter F. Kenney Jr.

Ginny was born August 15, 1943, in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late Frederick and Charlotte (Gabauer) Seebeck and was a graduate of John Adams High School in Queens. She lived with her family in Uncasville, CT for many years after relocating to Connecticut with her husband. Ginny worked as a telephone operator in New York, an administrative assistant and, later, as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement. Ginny loved animals and was a supporter of animal-related charities. She was well known for her baking talents, especially her Thanksgiving pies and Christmas cookies. 

Ginny leaves behind two daughters, Lisa Mele of Oxford, CT and Lauren Kenney of San Rafael, CA. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Jack, Jenna, and Jeremy Mele, Meghan Costa, Brenton Church, and Greyson Cannizzaro. She is also survived by four great grandchildren: Madison, Jeff Jr, Kayleigh, and Bennett. In addition to her husband and parents, Ginny was predeceased by her daughter, Lynn DeCelles, her brothers Richie, Herbie, George and Mickey Seebeck and her sister Dottie. 

Private services for Ginny will be held at the convenience of her family; there are no calling hours. Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff of Civita Care Center and Connecticut Hospice for their care of Ginny. Memorial contributions, in Ginny’s name, can be made to the ASPCA or The Wounded Warrior Project.
