She worked as a housekeeper and cook for several elderly people until she herself was 70 years old.

Violet loved to watch The Price is Right, Jeopardy and other game shows, but Wheel of Fortune was her favorite. She enjoyed word find puzzles, coloring, arts and crafts, a variety of games over the years, but Scrabble with Brian was her favorite! She loved yearly trips to Elizabeth Park, excursions for ice cream and clothes shopping with her granddaughter, Diana. Violet had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes.

For years, Violet enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and cooking for her family. She enjoyed reminiscing with friends and family and sharing the few remembered words of her Swedish heritage which her son-in-law, Mike, remembers more than the rest of the family.
