Viola Skidmore

Viola Skidmore, 85, was born Sept 25, 1940, to Lon and Lilly (Stapleton) Middleton in Crummies Creek, Harlan County KY. Viola was born to a family of 7 brothers and 3 sisters, 11 children in all. She was known for her hardworking nature, as well as being a gifted gardener and quilter, always interested in learning new crafting skills and art. She'd love to create, often volunteering for the Naugatuck Garden Club. She was dedicated to home, work, and family. She worked many years at Uniroyal, but her favorite workplace was Seal Products, where she had made lifelong friends.

She leaves behind a daughter, Wilma Long, and her son Scott Skidmore; her 7 Grandchildren, Erica Murzyn of Santa Clarita, CA, Keith Murzyn and Ryan Murzyn, and Lisseth Long of New Hartford, CT, Megan Alarcon, Shannon Skidmore, and Kyle Skidmore. Great grandsons Levi Murzyn, Sean James, and a great granddaughter Ava Grace, as well as so many loving siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews in KY as well as other states.

Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10:30 am at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Blackberry Winter by clicking HERE.
