It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas “TJ” Kochera, beloved husband, father, son, and dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic who left us after a brief illness on June 5, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family, who provided him comfort in his final moments.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marikate Kochera, his two beautiful daughters, Emilia, 22 months, and Charlotte, 10 months, his parents George and Melissah Kochera, brother George (Renee), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
TJ’s proudest accomplishment was being a loving husband and a devoted father to his girls. Providing for his family was one of his greatest priorities, and he did so with unwavering commitment and love.
As a dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic, TJ exemplified courage and selflessness, always ready to serve his community. His passion for helping others was evident in every call he answered, and he was respected by his colleagues and admired by those he served.
TJ leaves behind a legacy of love, bravery, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he served with pride.
Calling hours will be held on June 12 from 4-7 pm at Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., where family and friends can gather to celebrate his life and share memories. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 12:00 at St. Bridget’s of Sweden Church. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Firemen’s Benevolent Association of New Haven, which supports the families of first responders. Donations may be made by clicking HERE.
Rest in peace, TJ. Your spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
