Obituary

Tevfik Alp, 91, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Anna (Ferrero) Alp, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born on November 27, 1934, in Bornova, Turkey, Tevfik was the son of the late Huseyn and Bedia Alp. He proudly served in the Turkish Air Force, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he was stationed at NATO in Naples, Italy, where he spent three years working in intelligence and made many lifelong friendships. He later emigrated to the United States, where he met his future wife, Anna, in Staten Island, New York. Over the course of his career, he worked in manufacturing and quality control for several major American companies, including Harley-Davidson, Pitney Bowes, and Sikorsky Aircraft.

Tevfik possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world and a lifelong spirit of adventure. He loved music and classic films, was fascinated by languages and cultures, and never lost his wanderlust. A natural storyteller, he delighted in regaling friends and family with tales of his adventures and experiences, often holding court wherever people gathered. He treasured his friendships, maintaining deep and lasting connections with people across countries, cultures, and generations.

He also had an extraordinary tenderness for animals. He adored his dogs and had a special place in his heart for creatures of all kinds, often rescuing and caring for rabbits, birds, and other animals in need. His compassion for animals was one of the many ways he expressed his kindness and generosity of spirit.

Tevfik is survived by his wife, Anna; his daughter, Funda; his son-in-law, Michael; his grandson, Gianluca and his "nephew and niece" Yiğit and Michelle, who held a very special place in his heart. He also leaves behind many dear friends in the United States and abroad.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service or calling hours. His family will honor his final wish by scattering his ashes at sea at a later date.

Those wishing to honor Tevfik's memory may make a donation to the ASPCA (AmericanSociety for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) at [www.aspca.org/donate].
