Shirley Mercurio

Shirley A. Mercurio, 86, passed away, Friday, April 3, 2020 at River Glen Health care in Southbury. She was the wife of the late Peter Mercurio.

Mrs. Mercurio was born December 2, 1933, in Erie, PA, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mable (Erickson) Stokes. She was a longtime Naugatuck resident where she was most recently employed at Wal-Mart.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Parent and her fiancé Raul Barros of Beacon Falls; her son James Goetzinger and his wife Laurie of Albion, PA; her granddaughter Emily Parent of Bolton and her great-grandson Colton Soderberg also of Bolton, who affectionately referred to her as “Honey Gram”.

Arrangements – A celebration of her Mrs. Mercurio’s life will be held privately in Pennsylvania. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
