Robert B. Looker

Robert Looker was born on May 16, 1935 in Lynn, MA, the son of Bryce O. Looker and Frances (LeBlanc) Looker. The family also included his paternal grandparents (Harrison and Myrtle (Fountain) Looker and two sisters, Cynthia and Alice. He was brought up in active, close-knit neighborhood where he made life-long friends who enjoyed a variety of sports including a baseball team, ice skating and downhill skiing.

He graduated from Lynn English High School and Salem State Teachers College where he also was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent the next two years at Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Sill, Oklahoma attaining the rank of E-5. He then studied at Clark University in Worcester where he earned a Master’s degree in geography in 1960. He also met Aleta Grillot at Clark who also earned a M.A. in geography and they married shortly after graduation. Connecticut became their home and they lived in Cheshire since 1962 where they raised four children.

Bob held a variety of jobs; some related to town planning and others in electronics and he spent three years in the Connecticut Air National Guard. His last 30 years of employment were as Town Planner for Seymour, CT. He also enjoyed home-related projects including making desks and other functional furniture which have endured many years of use. He earned a pilot’s license and flew his family to interesting places and later built and flew an experimental aircraft.

Robert died at his home on September 26, 2025 surrounded by his family which includes his wife of 65 years, Aleta, and children Susan (Mark) Fairchild, Daniel, Bryce, and Marianne (Ian) Goldberg. Most of his grandchildren were also there: Lorelei (Noah) Cimeno, Aleta Looker, Mariah and Macy Goldberg. His grandson Robert (Chelsea) Looker and great grandson Almanzo Cimeno were in Maine.

Friends may greet Robert’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 5PM until 7PM. On Wednesday, October 1, 2025 his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire.
