Richard Joseph “Ricky” Romano, age 77 of Cheshire and New Haven, entered into rest on June 6, 2026 at MidState Medical Center. He was born on August 10, 1948 in New Haven, son of the late Earl and Mary (Wood) Romano.
Ricky was a truly kind and sweet person who brought warmth to those around him. He was always agreeable and rarely complained. His gentle nature and positive outlook made him a pleasure to know. Ricky loved food and took joy in every meal. He found happiness in simple pleasures, including watching SpongeBob SquarePants, enjoying classic Westerns, and listening to country music. His appreciation for life, his kindness, and his easygoing spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his family, Pat and Rich Schiavi and their family of Cheshire; and Lori John and her family of New Haven.
Friends may greet Ricky’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire CT 06410 on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 8:30AM until 9:30AM. His funeral procession will then leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 770 First Ave., West Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget School, 171 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.
