Richard Franklin Cushing

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Franklin Cushing, who left us on May 6, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 13, 1940 in Beverly, MA, he was the son of the late Constant Franklin and Mary Alice (Adkerson) Cushing.

Richard was a proud graduate of Cheshire High School and later attended Quinnipiac University. He was a dedicated employee at the Ball and Socket Company and member of the First Congregational Church in Cheshire, where he made lasting friendships and left a positive mark on everyone he met. He loved gardening, swimming, religious trips, and trading stocks.

 He is survived by his loving sisters Betty Surbeck and Erica Fritz, and his nephews and niece, David Surbeck, Jason Surbeck, Benjamin Fritz, and Liza Curtis. Richard's spirit and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

Services in celebration of Richard’s life will be held at his family’s convenience. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has care of arrangements.
