Patricia Esposito

Patricia A Esposito (O’Neill) of Cheshire passed away peacefully on Monday March 9, 2026, at St Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, her husband of thirty-four years, Peter Esposito constantly by her side. Born in New Haven, Connecticut on November 15, 1939, to Paul and Mary O’Neill, she grew up in Hamden, graduating from Hamden High School in 1957.

After raising her three sons, “Patti” began volunteering, and then worked for, the Hamden Adult Day Care Center, for several years, eventually becoming its Program Director. She was enormously proud of her work and, to the end of her life, fondly recalled the people she worked with and the many clients she helped through the years.

Anyone who knew Patti knew that she loved cats and decorating. Beginning in childhood, there was never a time in her life when she did not have a cat by her side or was taking in a stray. She loved to decorate her home in constant transition throughout the year with the change in seasons and holidays. She especially took pride in her Halloween and Christmas decorations. Patti loved a good laugh and was well known for her practical jokes. She embraced life with passion and perseverance and was always there for family and friends whenever needed and at any time and for any reason.

Our family would like to extend our deep appreciation to Vitas Hospice St. Mary’s Hospital, the staff of Whitney Manor Rehabilitation, and everyone who has provided care to Patti these last few months. As a family, we will be forever grateful for the support and kindness shown.

Patti is survived by her three sons David Scaramozza (Anna), Michael Scaramozza, and James Scaramozza (Michelle), brothers Brian O’Neill (Sandy) of Wallingford, Eileen O’Neill of North Haven and John (Okgi) O’Neill of Florida, nieces and a nephew, and granddaughters, Miranda and Ally Scaramozza. Per Patti’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her name to the Connecticut Humane Society or Friends of the New Haven Animal Shelter.
