Owen Warwick Quantick, age 54 of Cheshire, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at CT Hospice in Branford after a courageous and selfless battle with Glioblastoma. He was the devoted husband of Caron Kay (Jones) Quantick. Owen was born on June 1, 1971 in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. Son of Jane Pleydell (Welsh) Ridsdill and David Quantick, he is also survived by his children Margaret, Jonathan, Aubree, and Amelia; his siblings, Thomas (Kirsten) Ridsdill of Scotland, William (Samita) Ridsdill of Thailand, Poppy (Shane) Ridsdill of Australia, Melanie (Nicholas) Greenglass, and Samuel (Chiraphon) Ridsdill of England; his cousin and honorary brother Mark (Rachel) Ross of England; many loving nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins; his in-laws, Jacquelyn (Judson) Kennerson and Janie Jones; and his pups, Bella and Sydney. He was pre-deceased by his father-in-law, Robert Jones.
Throughout his life, education remained one of Owen’s greatest passions. He taught science and worked as a school administrator in England and in Putnam, Connecticut. Later, he taught science, worked in Community Life, and served as a dorm parent with Caron at Cheshire Academy where the two created a loving environment for boarding students away from home. He finished his career at the University of New Haven as the Assistant Director of the Office of Graduate and International Student Life. A role model for lifelong learning, Owen was one semester away from completing his doctorate at the time of his diagnosis.
Above all else, Owen treasured his role as a husband and father. Owen and Caron met at a forensics conference for science teachers in Meriden, Connecticut on Father’s Day, 2005. It was here that Caron heard Owen saying, “I’m probably the only guy you’ll meet who isn’t a father but wishes he was.” Caron remembers telling her friend, “I’m going to marry that man.” Their instant connection led Caron to follow Owen back to England where they began their life together. They welcomed their daughter Margaret in 2010, returned to the United States, and continued to build the family that became the center of Owen’s world, first adopting Jonathan, then Aubree and Ameila. Some of his happiest moments were spent creating lifelong memories with his family on camping trips, road trips, and following them to their sporting events. Owen viewed fatherhood as his greatest purpose, continuing to parent through chemo, CAR-T therapy, and even during his final days in hospice.
