It is with great sadness that the family of Mitchell Walter Mulinski, 82, announce his passing on April 13, 2026 at his home in Beacon Falls, CT. He was born in Waterbury the son of Walter and Catherine Mulinski of Naugatuck, CT. He grew up in the “Little Italy” section of Naugatuck and attended local elementary schools, graduating from Naugatuck High School in 1961. Mitch went on to serve a tool maker’s apprenticeship at Sylvania Manufacturing and worked at various shops in the area. He served the town of Beacon Falls as an original member of the Park and Recreation Commission establishing Matthies Park and the Pent Road Recreation Complex and served as a town constable for a number of years.
One of Mitch’s greatest joys was being a member of Beacon Hose Co. #1 for over 60 years, serving as Photo #1, fire police, ambulance and always helping at the firehouse with various events and the annual carnival.
Mitch was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, especially at his cabin on Goose Pond in New Hampshire having many fun adventures with his family and his hunting buddies: Chet Mrozinski, Johnny Petersen, Marty Petersen, Dave Petersen and Paul Valenti.
Mitch is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda, and his children: Thomas and his wife, Tina, his daughter, Cynthia Jurzynski and her husband, Christopher, his son, Steven all of Beacon Falls; and his son, Christopher of Boulder, CO. He leaves his loving grandchildren: Courtney Jurzynski and her fiancé, Francis Donovan, Connor Jurzynski and his fiancée, Rachel Malinowski, Anastasia Mulinski; and Lauren Mulinski. Mitch is also survived by his brother, Frank of CA, his sister, Marilyn Knight-Griffin of MD and Kathy DeCarlo of FL and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Walter, and daughter-in-law, Laura Poeta Mulinski.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Tremaglio for caring for Mitch through the years and most recently Accent Care of Middlebury and his team of Jennifer, Jenna, Chaplain Tim, Natalie and Melissa who visited and cared for him these past few months.
Friends may greet Mitch’s family at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 5PM until 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10AM at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls, friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hose Co. No. 1, 35 N Main Street, Beacon Falls, CT 06403 or to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls, CT 06403.
