Michael Z. Menaker, 81, beloved husband of the late Marjorie Menaker, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025. Born on July 6, 1944 in Worchester, MA, he was the son of the late Morris and Rose (Goff) Menaker. After marrying Marjorie on July 16, 1967, they eventually settled in Oakville, CT where they lived for over 40 years. Michael spent several years as a member of The Towers community in New Haven, CT before moving to Beachwood, OH to be closer to his grandchildren.
Michael was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. Michael was the proud co-owner of a Meineke Franchise for over ten years. After retiring and selling the franchise, he dedicated his life to serving others. In his retirement, he was a school bus driver as well as a volunteer driver for The American Cancer Society. Michael would offer reassurance and encouragement as he transported patients to their treatments. In his spare time, he enjoyed photography, sudoku and working on family genealogy. Michael had a kind soul and a quirky sense of humor that lightened any situation.
Michael is survived by his son, Jonathan Menaker and his wife Kelly of Cleveland Heights, OH; two grandsons Gary, and Matthew; sister Diane Kramer of Silver Spring, MD; as well as other extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Barry Menaker and brother David Menaker.
A graveside service will be held at Farband Cemetery in Morris, CT on Friday September 26, 2025 at 11AM EST, lunch to follow. Shiva will be observed Saturday between 6PM and 9PM at the home of the Niedermeyer’s. Memorial contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society, Hadassah or a charity of your choice.
