It is with deep sorrow that the family of Michael G. Hurley, age 67, of Wolcott, announces his passing on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Mike was born on November 2, 1958, in Meriden, the son of the late William O.M. and Mary Pauline (King) Hurley. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Alicia M. (McCormack) Hurley, and a strong and loving father to Nancy M. (Kam) Hurley of Cheshire and William M. Hurley of Milford, NH.
He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and Iowa State University with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology. Mike first worked for the state of Connecticut DIM, then for the state of Maryland in IT, and lastly his work culminated in his time as an IT Director for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (EOHHS) for over 20 years.
Mike found joy in nature and a multitude of activities—baseball, hockey, football, hiking, road tripping across the country with his wife, birdwatching, and was passionate about animals. He loved listening to a variety of music as well as watching a multitude of sports including the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins. Among all these joys of his life, the one he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family: his wife, children, and siblings.
In addition to his wife and children, Mike is survived by his sisters Noreen M. (Frank) Hurley-Storace of Allston, MA and Dorothy King of Sicily, Italy; his brother Timothy J. Hurley of North Berwick, ME; nieces and nephews, Casey and Kerry Storace and Tabitha (Bryan) Talbot; as well as extended family. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Beth Hurley. He was admired and respected by his countless friends, whom he also enjoyed spending time with immensely.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Audubon Society [www.ctaudubon.org] in lieu of flowers.
