Meyr Bram

Meyr Bram, 82, of Watertown, passed away on February 1, 2024, after bravely battling illness over the last year. Meyr was born on March 5, 1941, in Buenos Aires, Argentina to the late Leon and Mindla Bram. At age 18, he ventured off on his own to live in Israel where he served in the IDF and met his wife of 60 years, Lidia.

Meyr and Lidia moved to Waterbury in 1969, and in 1976, Meyr started his own business, Bram Refrigeration and Restaurant Supply, which was a staple on the corner of Meadow and Freight Streets downtown. His wife worked alongside him for many years.

Through his work, Meyr forged great relationships with many owners and managers in the restaurant industry throughout the state. He was always very proud that his children and grandchildren grew up around the business and enjoyed fine dining.  A love of food was just one of many gifts he bestowed on his family.

Meyr was also an avid skier, whose home mountain was Killington in Vermont. He skied well into his 70s. He was a natural chef and could whip up dinner for a crowd at a moment’s notice using pantry staples and his imagination. He was an avid gardener and was known for his vegetable and herb garden, which he lovingly tended each spring and summer.

In addition to his wife, Meyr leaves behind his daughter, Liora Bram of North Grafton, MA and her husband, Michael Gladstone; his son Arie Bram, of Beacon, NY; his beloved grandchildren Eliya Gladstone, Emmett Bram, Ronen Gladstone, and Jack Bram, who were the absolute lights of his life, along with bonus grandchild Molly Gladstone. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who were the beneficiaries of his great cooking and many jokes. He was predeceased by his sister, Flora Percan and his step-brother Eli Goldwasser.
