Mary Mane

Mary “Mamie” (Demir) Mane, 90, of Plymouth passed away peacefully on August 14th at Cook Willow Health & Rehab.

Mary was born March 25, 1933 in Waterbury, daughter of Halil and Saide Demir. A Waterbury resident most of her life, she attended local schools and later moved to Oakville in 2000. She retired from Waterbury Hospital after 30 years in the Business Office.

Mary was known for her quick wit and never-ending humor. She enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was a lifelong animal lover and enjoyed traveling, movies, dining, and going to the beach. Cooking, entertaining, spending time with family, and making people laugh were her greatest joys. In many circles, she was bestowed the honorary label of “Crazy Mamie” for her zany sense of humor.

She leaves a son, Luan and his wife Deborah of Bantam, CT, a grandson Gregory, and his wife Rachel and her two great grandchildren, Reagan and Hadley. She also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews, with whom she deeply loved and enjoyed countless family times together.

She was predeceased by her daughter Dr. Ane Mane of Kenai, Alaska, and Mary’s beloved companion of 40+ years, Joe Orsillo.

We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the staff at Cook Willow Health & Rehab and Vitas Hospice Care, for their ongoing care and assistance.

Arrangements: Family and friends may call at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, on Saturday morning, September 16, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
