Mary L. Kevit

Woodbury - Mary L. Kevit, 99, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at VITAS at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Kevit Jr.

Mary was born May 1, 1926, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Suchenski) Laguna. She was a longtime resident of Naugatuck before moving to Woodbury over 20 years ago. She attended St. Hedwigs School and Naugatuck High School before graduating from Simmons College in Boston.

After her graduation, her career in retail fashion included Breen’s in Naugatuck and Howland Hughes in Waterbury. She also was an ad rep for The Naugatuck Daily News.

Mary loved entertaining with her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending summers surrounded by family at the cottage at Bayview Beach in Milford.

She is survived by her children Gary Kevit; Doreen Kevit Mayconich and her husband Tom; John Kevit and his wife Lisa; her daughter-in-law Linda Kevit; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she is predeceased by her son Charles A. Kevit; her daughter Mary Jeanne Selby (James Selby); and her sisters Dorothy O’Toole and Florence Kennedy.

Arrangements - Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2026, from 4 to 6 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck with a funeral service beginning at 6 pm.
