It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion P. Russo of Waterbury, who left us peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the age of 96 in the comfort of her home. Born on April 25, 1929 in Hartford, CT to the late John Frederick and Margaret A. (Wahlman) Pike, Marion lived a fulfilling life as a devoted wife to the late Major General Gaetano “Guy” Arthur Russo.
Together, Marion and Guy had a passion for travel that took them to countless countries. With suitcases always packed, they would leave at the drop of a hat to head to their next international destination. They also enjoyed spending time at their home in Vermont with dear friends. They were members of both The Waterbury Club and the Country Club of Waterbury.
Marion was a longtime and active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Naugatuck, where her warmth and kindness touched the lives of so many. She served on the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Hospital as well as being a devoted volunteer and member of the Women’s Auxiliary.
Early in her career, Marion worked for Abraham Ribicoff and continued to work for him after he was elected governor. In later years, she started her own company performing title searches for real estate transactions.
Marion is survived by her beloved family and friends, including grandsons Christopher Russo and Andrew Cap. She is also survived by her sister Priscilla Teitenberg Burden. She will be dearly missed but remembered fondly by those whose lives she touched. Friends and family may gather at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home 82 Fairview Avenue in Naugatuck on Tuesday July 15, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when Marion’s procession will leave the funeral home and proceed to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Naugatuck for services at 11:00 a.m. Prayers of committal and Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
