Marilyn A. Kosis, 87, beloved wife of the late Benny Kosis, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026. Marilyn was born on October 12, 1938 in Newton, Massachusetts to the late George and Esther (Jackson) Kent.
Marilyn earned her nursing degree from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing and dedicated her entire career to nursing, retiring from Hartford Hospital after many years. Throughout her life, she was active in her churches and loved singing in church choirs. Marilyn volunteered regularly during her retirement to help people facing domestic violence.
Marilyn raised her two daughters in Andover, Connecticut. In 1987, she and Benny bought a house in Clearwater, Florida. Once they both retired, they enjoyed summers in Sidney, Maine and winters in Florida. Traveling between Florida and Maine every spring and fall, Marilyn enjoyed stopping at relative’s houses to catch up and visit. She enjoyed reading and vacations, particularly with family members. She always had a library card, wherever she lived. She leaves behind many photo albums documenting her life and the people that were special to her.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sharon Clapp and her husband Chris Michaud, and Janet Clapp and her husband Rich Clark; grandchildren, Serena Clapp-Clark and Gabriel (Gabe) Clapp-Clark and his wife Megan; brothers, David (Dave) Kent and his wife Lynne, and Arthur (Art) Kent; nieces and nephews and their families; and additional extended family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence (Larry) Kent and his wife Cindy; and sister-in-law, Ruth Kent.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Expressions of affection in lieu of flowers may be made as contributions to one’s own church or a women’s shelter of one’s choosing.
