Maria Fernanda Santos

Naugatuck, CT Maria Fernanda Santos, 73, wife of Charles F. “Carlos” Santos, died peacefully on September 9, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Fernanda was born September 8, 1952 in Guarda (SE’), Portugal a daughter of the late Fernando S. Marques and Silvina Do Carmo Marques. She settled in Naugatuck in March of 1973 and worked at Timex Corporation until 1982. Fernanda was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and throughout her life she cared for many children, who all lovingly called her “Titi”.

In addition to Carlos, her husband of 49 years, Fernanda is survived by her son, Daniel Santos; her brother, Adelmar Marques; her godchildren, who were like her children, Mario Marques, Carina Fernandes, Adelmar Marques, Jr. and his son, Christian Marques, who Fernanda called “Her Little Prince” and many cousins locally and in Portugal. In addition to her parents, Fernanda was predeceased by her son, Carlos Santos, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 9:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Everyone is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck, CT. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT.
