Margaret Marie Quigley, 97, of Cheshire, CT, beloved wife of the late Thomas V. Quigley for 71 years passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. She was born on March 3,1929 in New York City, a beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (McLaughlin) Connerty.
Margaret grew up in the Bronx, NYC and Yonkers, NY. She received her associates degree at Mattatuck Community College. Early part-time bookkeeping employment led to full-time employment of 25 years as a Buyer/ Purchaser for Ulbrich Steel of Wallingford after she raised her children.
Margaret was married to Thomas for 71 years from 1951-2022 until his passing. Margaret (Peg) met the love of her life, Tom, at Rockaway Beach in Queens, NY when he asked her to dance to the jukebox. After Tom was honorably discharged from the Army they married and lived in the Bronx. They started their family there and moved to CT. They had three children, James, Jean, and Thomas. She was a loving mother who gave each child the opportunity to chase their own adventure. Along with her husband, Tom, she diligently saved and invested in real estate purchases in VT, RI, and FL. That led to family time boating, fishing, swimming, golfing, and shelling at beaches. Her industrious nature was exemplified by her skill as a seamstress, chair upholsterer, golfer, and gardener. She loved to map out weekly tag sales and make a purchase! Margaret was also a member of the Professional Business Women’s Association. Her five grandchildren enjoyed her activity level to plan day trips and vacations together, and she adored her six great grandchildren who all visited her.
Margaret is survived by three children, James M. (Kimberly) Quigley of Leland, NC, Jean A. Lentini-Desantis of Cheshire, CT, and Thomas W. (Deirdre) Quigley of Plantsville, CT; and sister Catherine Glielmo of Staten Island, NY. She also leaves five grandchildren Beth (Mark Scott) Lentini, Bryan (Kristin) Lentini, James (Jennifer Geist) Quigley, Sarah (Brian) Gambardella, and Eliza (Eric) McAfee; and six great grandchildren: Ashley, Tyler, and Andrew Lentini, Jeremy and Corey Gambardella, and Brynn Quigley. Margaret is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Connerty.
