After 105 years of a wonderfully active life Marcea Ashborn Morgan passed away on September 17th. Marcea was always a Waterburian and a true member of the Greatest Generation. She attended Webster Grammar School and Crosby High School class of 1940. She graduated from Westbrook Junior College in Maine during WWII with a degree in laboratory science. For many years she worked in the clinic at Anaconda American Brass. It was here that she met the love of her life Richard G. Morgan. Together they resided in the Bunker Hill section of Waterbury for over 60 yrs.

Marcea strongly believed in the importance of giving back to others. Upon her retirement Marcea was very active with the Waterbury Hospital Auxiliary serving as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, you could always find Marcea volunteering in the gift shop on any given Thursday. A lifetime crafter, Marcea knitted hundreds, if not thousands of pink and blue newborn baby hats for the newborns leaving the hospital nursery and starting their life’s journey. In addition, she was active with the YWCA, Mattatuck Museum and the Bunker Hill Congregational Church where she and Richard were lifetime members. She was a keen bridge player and enjoyed playing with her friends in town. Marcea and Richard were also active members of the Waterbury Country Club for over 50 years.

Marcea is survived by her loving and caring family including Barry and Barbara Huber of Plymouth CT, Craig and Linda Huber of Shoal Creek AL, Michael and Cindy Scannell of Middlebury CT and their sons Christopher Scannell of San Francisco, CA, Peter Scannell and his wife Kathleen and their children Samantha, Addison and Sadie of Newtown, CT. Her godchild, Susan and her husband Brian Smith of Durango, Co. Marcea and Richard were always referred to as Aunt and Uncle by the children of all of their close friends. We have all been blessed to have been loved by Marcea. She had an active life surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly.
