Middlebury - Lois T. Pohorence, 79, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Pohorence.
Lois was born January 6, 1946, in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Mario and Louise (Rodia) Pizighelli. She lived the majority of her life in Bridgeport, Waterbury, and Naugatuck. She spent 20 years working as an Intake Worker at the Salvation Army in Waterbury.
She always enjoyed spending time with her family, giving back to her community, and, of course, getting her hair done.
Lois leaves behind six children, Theresa Ugalde and her husband Julio, Edward Pohorence and his wife Jen, Lois Cretella and her husband Louis, David Pohorence and his wife Shannon, James Pohorence and his wife Tina, and Lori Godin and her husband Darren; her three siblings, Mario Pizighelli Jr. and his wife Susie, Martin Pizighelli and his wife Elna, Judy Politano, and Tony Pizighelli and his wife Julie; her 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends. In addition to her husband and her parents, Lois is predeceased by her son Robert Pohorence and her sister Carmel Carter.
Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 4 to 6 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, the 14th, at 10 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank, 75 Spring St., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
