SOUTHBURY- Leona Lewis Trowbridge, 102, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury CT.
She was born in Waterbury on July 8, 1917 to Clark and Clara (Gray) Lewis. Leona was the co-owner and book keeper of the family business, Lewis Company-Fruit and Produce prior to her retirement. She was also an active lifelong member of the Republican Woman's Club of Waterbury.
Leona was predeceased in death by Donald Trowbridge, her husband for over 40 years, her brother, Holden Clark Lewis and his wife, Marian Palmer Lewis of West Chester, PA. and Leona's younger brother, Gray Lewis of Waterbury.
Mrs. Trowbridge is survived by her three nieces Patricia Lewis Quay of Malvern, PA, Diane Lewis Tate and her husband, Joseph H. Tate of Amherst, NH and Linda Lewis Morris of Henniker, NH.
The family would like to thank the kind caregivers from River Glen Health Care Center for their loving care.
A graveside service will be held 11 A.M, Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Riverside Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the graveside. Burial will follow after the service and there will be no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
