Lawrence Murry Cocking

Cheshire - Lawrence Murry Cocking, 89, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Complete Care at Meriden Center. He and Avril Louis, née Bohanna, were married for over 66 years.

Lawrence Murray Cocking was born March 29, 1937, in Lima, Peru, the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth, née Bascom, Cocking. He was a sales representative for Corometrics Medical Systems, travelling the world and teaching medical teams how to work with intensive neonatal care stations. One time, while visiting San Sebastian, Spain, Larry got chatting with the waiter, having recognised his Latin American accent. When they got to comparing dates and place, they decided that Larry was the visiting trainer who had helped deliver him. It was a very difficult, 20-hour birth, and the expertise probably saved his life.

Larry is survived by his daughter Deborah Cocking, his wife Avril, his nieces and nephews Scott, Owen, Robin, Victoria, and Sally, and Mark Tomlinson. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son David Quentin Maxwell Cocking and his brother John Cocking.

Arrangements - A funeral service will be held on Sunday, the 11th of October at 1.00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., Cheshire, followed by coffee and cake. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery on Monday, and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Animal Shelter, 500 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410.
