Laura G. Hess

Laura Hess, 75, of Watertown, CT, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Laura was born on October 10, 1949, in Binghamton, NY. She was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs School in Boston and she moved to Connecticut in 1974.

Laura was passionate about volunteering her time and helping others. Laura worked for the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce as Coordinator of Community Visions. She was the Director of Patient Relations and Community Affairs for St. Mary’s Hospital and she also served as Development Director for Blessed Sacrament Church and School.

Laura obtained her passion for volunteering as a member of the Junior League of Greater Waterbury. Laura loved community affairs and she dedicated the better part of her life to making her community a better place to live.

In addition to her love for her children and grandchildren, Laura loved dogs, especially her cockapoo Sierra. Laura tolerated Hartford Whalers and New York Mets games in order to appease her family but she was always happiest when she was serving others.

Laura is survived by her son Brandon (Katie) and grandchildren River, Ava, and Dev, as well as her son Spencer. Laura also leaves behind her brothers Austin and Allen George, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Laura was predeceased by her close friend Copey Smith, and she leaves behind her best friends from the Junior League and volunteering, Peggy Lawlor, Ann Largay, Cathy and Maggie Smith, and Joan Hartley.
