Kathleen Gruner

Our loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Kathy, passed away on September 13, 2025, in Grand Junction, Colorado, her home of 10 years. Kathy was 79 years young. She was born in Waterbury and raised in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Prior to moving to Colorado, she lived in Fort Myers, FL, Middlebury, CT, and in Misquamicut, RI.

Kathy was predeceased by her son, Jason Paul Gruner, and her parents, Aurelio Norton DePinho and Arminda Ramos DePinho. Surviving her are her two children, Bradley William Gruner and Shelby Lyn (Gruner) Maloney, and five grandchildren, Aiden, Joseph, Alannah, Adriana, and Michael. She is also survived by her six siblings: Arminda Murtha, Norton DePinho, Denise Pratt, Loretta Ferrara, Darlene DePinho-Hall, and Ronald DePinho.

As the second of seven children, Kathy was feisty and energetic, and as a teenager, she blazed the way for her younger siblings. Kathy was full of life and admired by all. She would light up a room with her smile, laughter, and quick sense of humor. She was caring, generous, and full of love for her family and friends. Everyone who knew her loved her.

Kathy worked with accounts payable and receivable for several companies over the years, but she often said that her most enjoyable job was as a teacher’s aide at Hillside Middle School.

To commemorate such a loving and giving life in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Western Slope Memory Center 2594 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505, or Hope West Hospice, 3090 N. 12th St. Grand Junction, CO 81506.  Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. James Cemetery.
