Obituary

Karen Cecilia Turner

Karen (Kelly) Turner, 83, of Meriden, CT, passed away surrounded by a full room of loving family members on October 11, 2026 at Midstate Medical Center.

Karen was born on September 10, 1943, in New Haven, CT. A long-time Cheshire resident, she attended Cheshire public elementary schools and graduated high school from Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury. She graduated from Sienna College in TN with a degree in Chemistry.

Karen was an active member of the Cheshire Grange #23, serving as an officer for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lady Fenwick Chapter. She was a long-time parishioner of Saint Bridget’s Church in Cheshire and most recently a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Angels in Meriden. She was formerly a member of the choir in both parishes.

Karen’s Catholic faith and her family were the most important things to her. She loved Sunday afternoons spent with Jon, Mary, Mike, Hazel, Declan, and Maeve, and Thursday lunches with her sister Maryalyce. Some of her most special memories were vacationing with her extended family to Scott’s Family Resort in Deposit, NY, because there she got to spend lots of time with family from near and far. More recently, this summer, even as her health was declining, she was excited to travel to VA to visit with nieces and nephews.

Karen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jonathan Turner of Meriden, CT; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Michael Bathrick of Meriden, CT; grandchildren Hazel, Declan, and Maeve Bathrick, as well as an eagerly anticipated fourth grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Maryalyce and Robert Lee of Cheshire, CT; brother and sister-in-law, George and Sharon Kelly of Farmington, CT; sister-in-law Frances Kelly of Cheshire, CT; and her son-in law’s parents, Patricia and Bruce Bathrick of Cheshire, CT. She was a beloved aunt to 19 nieces and nephews, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her son, John L. Turner; her brother, Lawrence A. Kelly; godson and nephew, Brian Kelly; her parents, Lawrence A. Kelly and Marion A. Kelly; and her sisters-in-law, Patricia Donnelly, Pamela Nightingale, and Priscilla Elliot.

Family and friends may call at the Alderson-Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire CT 06410 on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Karen will be celebrated Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main Street, South Meriden, CT 06451. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
