Judith Ann Woods Scott , loving wife, dedicated mother, proud Mema and Great Mema passed away on August 16, 2026. Judy was born September 9, 1944 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Harry and Ruth Woods.
She was a devoted wife of 56 years to her high school sweetheart, the late Edward Scott; together they shared a deep bond and demonstrated the meaning of love and devotion. She was a caring and supportive mother to her daughter, Shannon Howard and her husband Barry of Ansonia and son Christopher Scott and his wife Michelle of Southington. Nothing brought her more pride and happiness than watching her children grow and thrive. Judy especially adored her grandchildren and relished in the role of being their beloved Mema. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren Amy Lavoie (Andrew), Megan Riley Howard, Ryan Christopher Scott, great granddaughters Daisy, Juliet, & Madelyn Lavoie, her sister Diane Link, brother Harry Woods Jr. (Sonya), numerous nieces and nephews, their children, and lifelong friends Betsy Poulin and Jan Foery. They will forever carry her spirit, love and passion for life with them.
In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her grandson Daniel Frank Howard and brother-in-law Ken Link.
Judy enjoyed the simple things in life. Watching the sun rise and set over the beaches in Cape Cod, watching westerns (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid was her favorite), or playing with her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her closest friends and family. Her house was a source of pride that she nurtured into a home over the years, hosting many Easter Sundays, Christmas Eves, and Birthday Parties, creating lasting memories for all who loved her.
Judy loved the lake life, spending summers relaxing at her cottage in Wholand, on the Housatonic River. Whether it was quiet sunrise coffee with her dogs (Gretchen, Pepper, and Miss Lady) or a quiet row, there was no place she’d rather be. She passed that passion to her children and grandchildren.
She adored nature and animals, whether it was riding her childhood horse Red through apple orchards, raising and training collies, or feeding the wild birds. Judy had the gift of seeing beauty in all that nature has to offer.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated, and a graveside service celebrating Judy’s life will be held on Saturday August 29 at 11am at Old Pine Grove Cemetery 340 Meriden Road in Waterbury. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make any donations to the animal charity or shelter of your choosing. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has care of arrangements.
