Joseph Frank Mazzacane

Joseph Frank Mazzacane Jr., 70, of Cheshire, passed away on June 17, 2025. Born on March 15, 1955, in New Haven, CT, Joe was the son of the late Leota and Joseph F. Mazzacane Sr. A longtime resident of Cheshire, Joe earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Cheshire High School.

Joe began his career in manufacturing, where he built a reputation for being both dependable and hardworking. He spent 11 years managing Dyna Moving and Storage before making a bold midlife career change. After attending barber school, he operated a barbershop in Hamden, CT, where he cut hair, shared stories, and built community for over two decades.

Joe was known for his "aggressively friendly" nature quick with a joke, unwavering in his loyalty, and always ready to lend a hand. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar. In adulthood, he taught himself to play ice hockey and was a proud and vocal fan of the Hartford Whalers and, later, the New York Rangers.

Later in life, Joe dedicated himself to caring for his aging father. He provided support with compassion, commitment, and patience ensuring his father's comfort and dignity until the very end.

Joe is survived by his son, Jonah Mazzacane and his wife, Diana; grandchildren, Gabriel and Avery Mazzacane; siblings, Michael and Maria Mazzacane; half-brother, Richard Solomon; and his trusted friend, Camille Tanguay. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his former spouse, Martha Broke, and his brother, Frank Mazzacane.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to celebrate Joe's life at Alderson Ford Funeral Home, 615 S Main St., Cheshire.
