CHESHIRE – Deputy Police Chief Joseph A. Ferry Sr. (Ret.), passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at his home. Son of the late Joseph and Rose (Valenti) Ferry. Beloved husband of Anna (Maratea) Ferry (53yrs) and loving father of Joseph and Dee Ferry of Wallingford, Felicia Ferry of Southington, and Greg and Elizabeth Ferry of Avon. Proudest poppy ever of Mia, Emma, Blake and Vincent. Brother to Theresa(deceased)and (Jack) Radochio of Arlington, MA, brother in-law to Ray(Pat) Maratea of Meriden and uncle to Diana (Guido), Gary (Anne), Dean, Karen (Corey) and Lauren (Shawn).

Mr. Ferry was born June 20, 1944, in Boston. He was raised in Massachusetts and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime Cheshire resident where he served his community as a member of the town’s police department for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.
A special thank you to Mr. Ferry’s nurses for the comfort and compassionate care they provided over the past six years.

Arrangements – A Memorial Mass with Military Honors will be held at a later date at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Thomas Becket Church. A private graveside service will be held in St. Bridget Cemetery with Police Department Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 or to the Cheshire PBA, 500 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
