Jon R. Tessler, 72, lifelong resident of Cheshire, beloved husband of Peggy Tessler, passed away after a valiant three-year battle with glioblastoma on November 22, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 2, 1953 in New Haven, to the late Bernard and Lillian Tessler.
Jon was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he earned his undergraduate degree in pharmacy, and later completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He was an Oncology Pharmacist at Smilow Cancer Hospital for many years. His career reflected his commitment to helping others and his deep respect for the science and care behind his profession.
Outside of work, Jon embraced the things he loved wholeheartedly. He was an avid fan of ZZ Top and a lifelong supporter of the New York Yankees. He enjoyed playing tennis, spending time outdoors, and traveling, especially to his favorite getaway spots in Delaware and Cape Cod. Above all, Jon cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy.
Along with his wife, Jon leaves behind his daughter, Lindsay (John) Agnese of Milford; grandchildren, Tessa and Anthony Agnese; sister, Sally (Robert) Johnson of Harwinton; as well as extended family and friends.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the care teams at Sloane Kettering Cancer Center, and Smilow Cancer Center, notably Dr. Mary Bardon, as well as the staff at Marbridge Assisted Living & Memory Care for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a service at the conclusion of calling hours at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 S Main St., Cheshire. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to: Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in memory of Jon Tessler.
