WATERBURY- John (Skeeter) Williams, 78, passed away Friday, March 11, 2021 at Newtown Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Newtown.

Mr. Williams was born June 25, 1943 in Bessemer, Al., son of the late Johnnie and Minnie (Butler) Cunningham. Skeeter loved the Lord. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and served as an usher. He had the opportunity to engage with many elders and young people from Grace.

Skeet enjoyed reading. He was interested in all subjects. He could discuss various topics for hours. Skeet loved jazz music. One of his favorite artists was Miles Davis. Skeet was an avid swimmer. Though he spent most of his time in the pool at the YMCA, he preferred the ocean. Skeet was amazed with the young people of today. He would spend his time volunteering at Granville Academy, a non-profit after-school college preparatory program. Mostly, Skeet enjoying talking and sharing memories with family and friends. We will miss the kind, loving and humble spirit of our beloved Skeet.

Mr. Williams leaves behind his daughters, Robin Young of Buffalo NY , Beth Jones (Putnam), and Chevelle Walker of Utica NY; sons Quincey Williams of Pittsfield MA, and Malik Williams of Stockton CA. He will also be missed by several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Arrangements: Services for Mr. Williams will be private and burial will be at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours and The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury is assisting with his arrangements.
