Beacon Falls - John A. Rupsis, 79 known to many as “Tony” passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Evelyn (Skowronski) Rupsis.
He was born November 1945, in Derby, the son of the late Albert and Catherine Rupsis. He was a lifelong resident of Beacon Falls and was a very talented self-employed Tool Maker. His eye for detail and his appreciation for his craft came through in his work. If you came to him with a problem, he helped create a solution. Throughout his life he enjoyed working on anything with a motor, which included cars, race cars, motorcycles, and snowmobiles, but his love of watercraft overshadowed all else. He loved nothing more than to go out on the boat, cast a few lines and troll down the Housatonic River to the Long Island sound. He shared this love of the water with his kids as his father did before him. Tony was a cherished son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father, papa, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. He lived his life with honesty and integrity.
Besides his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his children; his daughter Tara Hlavna (Matt) of Prospect and their children Joshua & Paige, his son Michael J. Rupsis (Kate Norton) of Beacon Falls, and his children Westley, Samantha & Michael and his daughter Kathryn (Kassie) Rupsis of Derby.
Tony was 1 of 7 children and grew up in a large family full of love & laughter. He leaves his Sisters, Jacqueline Buckmiller of Cape Cod Massachusetts, Tara Mazzetti of Rhode Island, Kate Delvecchio (Frank) of Seymour, his brother Michael T. Rupsis of Waterbury, and his sister Helen (Steve) Wells of Canada and sister-in-law Eileen Rupsis of Beacon Falls. He was predeceased by his parents Catherine & Albert Rupsis and his brother David Rupsis.
