John P. Huber of Cheshire, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. John, the son of Carl J. Huber and Elizabeth (Crowley) Huber, was born on July 22, 1945. John grew up in Orange, Connecticut, where he had an idyllic childhood. He attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. After graduation, John enlisted in the United States Army where he trained on several military bases and did two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. His service medals include two bronze stars.

After his honorable discharge, John was recruited by the Justice Department Drug Enforcement Administration, where he served as a special agent until his retirement. John had an interesting career with postings in New York City, London, Moscow, and El Paso. During his retirement years, John, a lifelong collector of antiques, opened a small antique business in El Paso, Texas. It was there that he met his spouse, Christina (Haddox) Huber. John also volunteered with Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso, which brought him great joy. John was an avid horseman and had many adventures including a horseback trip from Texas to Utah.

In 2019, John and Chris moved to Cheshire, Connecticut, where they volunteered for the Cheshire Historical Society. John also loved to garden at the Bartlem Park Community Garden area.

John is survived by his loving wife, Chris; sisters, Kathy Huber of Cheshire and Carol Rapuano of Orange; nieces, Susan Rapuano (Bruce Proctor) and Tina Giuliano (John); nephew, Louis Rapuano; grandnieces, Lauryn and Laci Giuliano; stepsons, Mark and Ian Bentley (Laura); grandchildren, Alexander, Natalie, and Logan Bentley. Special thanks to his dear friend, Richard Minton; Dr. Rajani Nadkarni and Dr. Matthew Campbell; nurses, Michele and Joanna; and PT Diane.

John was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
