Jeanette Angelique (Szalkowski) Murzyn, age 64, of Waterbury, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on October 25, 2025, where she was met by her parents John and Irene, her grandparents, her brother John, her sister Carole and her nephews Jon and Nick.
As a student, Jeanette received an A.S. in Nursing from St. Vincent's College, and a B.S in Psychology from Sacred Heart University. Jeanette followed in the footsteps of her sister, Carole, becoming a psychiatric nurse joining her to work at Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health. Jeanette and her sister, Joan, founded Gotta' Dance Studio of the Performing Arts in Fairfield, CT where Jeanette served as Lead Dance Teacher and Choreographer for three decades.
In her mid 20's, Jeanette contracted Guillain-Barré Syndrome which paralyzed her from the waist down rendering her unable to walk. For the better part of a year, she fought to regain her ability to walk and to not only teach dance classes again, but to also perform in annual dance recitals. It is by this unrelenting determination and passion that she was known for which inspired so many around her.
In 2002, Jeanette settled down with her husband, Pete Murzyn and together they welcomed their son Johnathan in 2007. Reflecting back on her life, Jeanette would often say that raising her son Johnathan and watching him grow and mature into the fine young man that he is, was by far her greatest accomplishment.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 23 years, Pete Murzyn; her son, Johnathan who is enrolled in Sacred Heart University; and her fur babies, Cinnamon and Shadow. In addition to countless students that she considered family, she is also survived by her sister, Joan; brother-in-law, Richard; niece, Crystle; and nephews, Chris, Jim, and Johnny.
