Janet Hall Buckingham Breau

Janet Hall Buckingham Breau, 77, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Southington, she was the beloved daughter of Ralph and Florence Buckingham and sister of William and David Buckingham.

A lifelong resident of Cheshire, Janet graduated from Cheshire High School and Central Connecticut State University, where she was a member of the synchronized swimming team. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Waterbury before devoting several years to raising her children, Eric and Abby. She later earned a degree in computer science and worked as a computer systems engineer at Travelers and Aetna.

Janet embraced life with energy and joy. She loved playing tennis and was a longtime member of Copper Valley Country Club and Middlebury Racket. Summers spent with friends in Brewster, MA, and at her cherished home in Stetson, ME, especially boating on Pleasant Lake, were among her happiest times. A proud patriot, she was a member of the Lady Fenwick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Creative and generous, Janet found great fulfillment in crafting, gardening, and tending her beautiful perennial gardens. She delighted in hosting gatherings and preparing holiday meals, always making family and friends feel welcomed and loved.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; her children, Eric (Adina) and Abby (Erich); her grandchildren, Elijah, Amelia, and Max; her niece, Terri (Judd); her brother‑in‑law, Rodger (Ann); and dear friends Richard and Patricia Ward, along with their children Hilary, Ashley, and Janet’s goddaughter, Stacey. She also leaves behind extended family and many cherished friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers, David and William Buckingham, and her niece, Billie Dawn Burton.

A memorial service will be held on November 14 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Church, Cheshire. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Foster and Forever Pet Rescue.
