James H. “Jim” McDermott, age 64, of Bethlehem passed away after a long illness on Monday, February 17, 2020 at his home. He was the devoted husband of Fernanda S. “Amanda” (Martins) McDermott for over 41 years. James was born on April 17, 1955 in Waterbury, son of the late Harold and Helen (Rush) McDermott.

Jim was raised in Waterbury and attended local schools, he graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and went on to further his education at Mattatuck Community College. He worked for Naugatuck Glass Company for 31 years, retiring in 2008 as the General Foreman.
Jim enjoyed bowling and golfing, and cheering on the Mets. He was a car enthusiast, who kept up-to-date with the newest Cadillac models, and attended many car shows in NYC. Jim was a fan of Classic Rock and frequented plays in NYC and the newest blockbuster movies with his family. Most of all, Jim was a proud grandfather to Chester and Celeste who he loved dearly and treasured every moment he spent with them.

In addition to his wife, Amanda McDermott of Bethlehem, Jim is survived by his daughter, Jamie Kingsley and her husband, George of Morris, and his son, James H. McDermott of Naugatuck; his cherished grandchildren, Chester and Celeste Kingsley; his sister, Rosemary McDermott of Waynesville, NC; several nieces and nephews and his faithful pup, Daisy. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard McDermott, Nancy Lombard, Thomas McDermott and Harold McDermott.
