Jack Pei-Ming Chu

Jack Pei-Ming Chu, age 75, of Southington and formerly of Cheshire, entered into rest on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Hartford Hospital with his loving family by his side following a 10-month courageous battle with liver disease.  He was the devoted husband to the love of his life, Dolly (Chang) Chu, for 46 years.  Jack was born on February 7, 1949 in Chiang-Si, China, son of the late Chu Chi Hsiang and Rong Chang (Tong) Chu.

Jack earned his bachelor’s degree from Taiwan Provincial College of Marine Science and Technology and his master’s degree from University of New Haven, and worked as an industrial engineer for the US Postal Service for 24 years until his retirement.  His family was his world and he was a proud grandfather.

Jack is the beloved father of his two daughters, Wynne Lord and Vicky Nuzzi, along with their respective husbands, Eric Lord and Eric Nuzzi. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Kian, Maia, Jack, Henry, and Leo, as well as his sisters, Lydia Hwang and Pamela Wang.

Throughout his life, Jack was known for his unwavering devotion to his family. He always said there were only two things he needed in life: family and work. He had the most generous heart, a joyful spirit, and strong work ethic. Jack’s journey from Taiwan to a new life with his family epitomized his resilience and determination. With just $200 and his wife by his side, Jack immigrated to the United States in 1981. He worked a full-time job, often with nights and overtime, while studying for his master’s degree. He was proud to be promoted to an industrial engineer. All this was to provide his children with a brighter future.

Aside from his love for his family, Jack’s passions were fishing, cooking, and keeping his car extremely clean. He was always so hospitable, and he loved nothing more than watching others enjoy the food that he created. He eagerly embraced any opportunity to take his family fishing, but often ended up dedicating all his time to helping others, leaving little time for himself to fish. That's who he was: selfless, always with a mindset of servitude toward his family. In his dedication to his family and generosity towards others, Jack has left a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories for all who knew him. His love will remain in our hearts forever.
