Jack F.C. Bottaro

CHESHIRE - Jack F.C. Bottaro, age 100, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Masonicare Health Center.  He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Carol (DellaFera) Bottaro.

Jack was born October 22, 1922, in Hartford, the son of the late Paolo and Rosaria (Angello) Bottaro.  He served in the South Pacific WWII campaigns of the northern Solomons and southern Philippines as an Army Technician 4^th Grade until his honorable discharge in 1946. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Teacher’s College of New Britain, better known today as Central Connecticut State University, as well as Masters and Advanced Study degrees in Mathematics from Fairfield University.  He was a mathematics teacher and track coach at Bunnell High School until his retirement in 1984. He and Carol lived in Trumbull for more than 60 years before moving to Cheshire in 2016. Jack was an avid sports enthusiast, playing tennis, golf, and bowling well into his 90s.

Besides his wife Carol, Jack is survived by his sons David Bottaro, Donald Bottaro, and his wife Christine Kelley; and his daughter Mary Davidson and her husband George; grandchildren George Davis and fiancé Diane Ferullo, Nicholas and Tara Davidson, Rachel, and Christian Tomain, and Tara and Christopher Richard; as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 9 to 11 am at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish @ 175 Main St, Cheshire, CT for a Mass at 12 noon.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to Smilow Cancer Center and mailed to Smilow at Yale New Haven Hospital, 20 York St, New Haven, CT 06510, or online @ www.givetoynhh.org.
