Ilda Valente

Naugatuck - Ilda Valente, 88, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home. She was the wife of the late Frederico Valente.

Mrs. Valente was born October 9, 1937, in Setúbal, Portugal, the daughter of the late Polivio and Teresa (Fonseca) Aresta. She was a bookkeeper for various businesses in Naugatuck. She was a communicant, eucharistic minister, long-time catechism teacher, and remains a member of The Ladies of the Rosary at Our Lady of Fatima Church. She was a former treasurer and is a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary at the Clube Uniao Portuguesa in Naugatuck, where she played a large part in the Sao Paio festival Committee.

She is survived by her sons David J. Valente and his wife, Katie; Frederick S. Valente; and Edward J. Valente and his wife, Melissa; her grandchildren, Arianne, Courtney, Alexio, Samantha, Rachel, Kimberly, and predeceased by Timothy; her great-grandchildren, Connor, Jackson, Pheonix, Salem, Madison, and Ripley; she is also survived by both her brothers Agostinho Aresta and John Aresta; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 82 Fairview Ave. On Thursday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 and proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church.
