Winifred Hughes

Naugatuck, CT Winifred “Freddie” Cyr Porriciello passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, November 11, 2018 at Beacon Brook after a short illness.

Winifred was born on January 7, 1927 in a small village in Allagash, ME to William and Alice (Walker) Hughes. Winifred was the last of 17.

She leaves a daughter, Judy Murtha and her companion Joe Heston, a grandson, Ron Murtha and great grandson Matthew all of Naugatuck, along with daughter Donna Clowes and family who reside in NB Canada, a granddaughter Emily Cyr Wetzel, husband Brandon and their children Charles and Eleanor and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons Daniel Cyr and Johnny Porriciello.

A graveside service will be on Friday at 1:00pm at Grove Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Winifred’s memory, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N.
