Mr. Howard Joseph Bogart Jr., 82, of Cheshire died Sunday October 19, 2008 at Saint Marys Hospital in Waterbury. He was the loving husband of Annmarie (Iannotti) Bogart. Mr. Bogart was born July 5, 1926 in New Haven, son of the late Howard and Frances (Newton) Bogart, Sr., and was a lifelong Cheshire resident. He serves his country honorably in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1946. He had worked at New Departure, was the owner of Del Prado Restaurant in Waterbury and was the District Manager of the Prudential Insurance Company in Danbury, winning yearly awards for outstanding service and multi million dollar sales. He was an avid golfer, bringing the sport to each of his children. He was a supporter of Cheshires relay for Life since its inception. He was one of the founders of the Meaghan Welch memorial Artist Scholarship. Most of all he was a loving husband, provider and caregiver. He was always there for family and friends. Always giving, loyal, caring and loving to all above his own needs. He was an inspirational father to his children, Lt. Col. Robert Howard Bogart, retired and his wife Margaret, Deborah Ann Welch and her husband Edward and Brian Anthony Bogart, grandfather to Tara Marie Welch Perry and her husband Timothy, Heather Frances Welch Santi and her husband Christopher, Lauren Faith Bogart, Robert Howard Bogart, Jr. and Christopher Mackenzie Bogart and his wife Ashley, great grandfather to Samantha Jordon Welch, Christopher Anthony Santi and Victoria Meaghan Santi. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Meaghan Ann Welch. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Bogart will be held at the Church of the Epiphany 1750 Huckins Road in Cheshire at a time to be announced. Burial with military honors will be in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meaghan Welch Artistic Scholarship Fund in care of the Cheshire Education Foundation 175 East Mitchell Avenue Cheshire, CT 06410. The Slater Funeral Home 242 South Main Street has care of arrangements.
