Gregory E. Mancuso, age 65 of Cheshire, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his devoted wife Roberta by his side.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, the third child of Ann (Wiley) Mancuso and the late Henry Mancuso, Greg brought a beautiful light into the Mancuso family.
As a young child growing up in Guilford, Greg was a bright, talented and athletic kid with an insatiable appetite for learning. Whether it be sports stats, mathematics, world events or trivia, he absorbed it all with ease. His years at Guilford High School were filled with academic achievements as well as athletic accomplishments. Greg earned an academic scholarship to attend the University of Rhode Island where he excelled at soccer and graduated with a degree in economics.
Upon graduation Greg began what would become a successful career. He first followed in his father’s footsteps at John Hancock Financial Services for over ten years. He later co-founded a food brokerage firm before moving on to Vice President of Sales for JJ Cassone Bakery in New York, where he met his current partner, Jim Dunlap, and became the co-founder of J&G Bakery in West Haven, CT.
Greg married the love of his life, Roberta Thomas in October 2004. Together they built a beautiful home in Cheshire where family and friends were always welcome. Greg was an avid golfer and a devoted fan of all New York sports teams. He and Roberta especially enjoyed travel, especially to see their daughter and son-in-law in Denver and their two beautiful grandchildren but their special place was Chatham, Massachusetts and clams on the half shell at the Impudent Oyster. Above all, Greg cherished his grandchildren Easton and Hazel and took great joy in spending time with them. Easton cherished his Poppy and they shared a very special bond.
Greg is predeceased by his father Henry Manuso, Jr. In addition to his wife, Roberta Thomas Mancuso of Cheshire and his mother, Ann Mancuso of East Haven, Greg is survived by his beloved step-daughter, Jessica Adams and her husband, Timothy of Denver, CO; his cherished grandchildren, Easton and Hazel; his siblings, Steve Mancuso and his wife, Sally of Guilford; Joanne McSherry and her husband, Ted of Guilford; Susan Zerio and her husband, Peter of Essex; and Hank Mancuso and his partner, Kelly Hanlon of Westbrook. Greg also leaves his brother-in-law, Randy Thomas and his wife, Kim of Orange; his sister-in-law, Jodie-Lee Thomas of Hamden; his many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; business partner, Jimmy Dunlap; his dog, Cee Cee and horse, Phoenix.
Greg was a warm, kind and generous man with an intrinsic ability to care for others whether it be family, friends, neighbors or business associates. His altruistic nature was felt by all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be profoundly and deeply missed and remembered forever.
