Obituary

Gladys P. Ferraro, 85, of Cheshire, beloved wife of the late Alphonse A. Ferraro, passed away on July 7, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Her final words were “I feel peaceful”. She was born on January 21, 1941 in New Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Gladys V. Peach.

She and her husband Alphonse were the owners of Grannis Corner Pharmacy in New Haven for decades, providing services for thousands of loyal customers. Gladys was the larger-than-life light of every gathering and a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose love for her family knew no bounds. She never missed a single sporting event, play, or recital in all her years. Cheshire Swimming was always important to her, and she was known affectionately throughout the town as “Ram-Gram”. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her “Church Ladies”, “Lilac Girls”, and “Gourmet Club”, and cherished her time spent traveling the world with her husband and friends. She always greeted everyone with a broad smile and hearty “HEL-lo!” which became her trademark. Gladys was always happiest when surrounded by her family and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a woman of unwavering faith until her last moment and faced her death without fear, knowing that Jesus would be waiting for her when she passed.

Gladys was the cherished mother of Jeffrey (Kerrine) Ferraro, Paul Ferraro, Karen (Anthony) Cannata and Laurie (David) Hearrin. Gladys also leaves her loving grandchildren Ashley (Dustin) Boone, Jeffrey Ferraro, Jenna (Gregory) Martin, Jessica (David) Enders, Joseph Cannata, and Hunter and Mackenzie Hearrin; her great-grandchildren Charlotte and Carson Boone, Harper Ferraro, and Jaxson Enders; her brothers, Raymond (Gloria) Peach and Thomas Peach; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Earl) Riordan, Janice Pruchnicki and Patricia Ferraro; and the proud aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Edward Ferraro and William Pruchnicki and her sister-in-law Paula Peach.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. Family and friends will again be greeted on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery in Cheshire.
