Fredrick David Judge, age 87 of Cheshire, entered into rest on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at his home. He was the devoted husband of Leah (Doyle) Judge for over 56 years. David was born on May 16, 1939 in Troon, Scotland, son of the late Frederick William and Jessie Hastings (Forbes) Judge. 

David spent much of his early life attending boarding schools in Scotland, including Cargilfield Preparatory School and Sedbergh School. He went on to earn his PhD in Entomology from the University of Glasgow, and when the opportunity arose to work abroad, he eagerly accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at Cornell University. It was during his time at Cornell that David met his best friend and soulmate, Leah Doyle. Their connection was immediate—they became engaged on the very day they met and were married the following summer. After a short time in Geneva they moved to England where they started their family. Later they moved to Lexington, KY where they lived briefly before settling in Cheshire, CT. 

David will be remembered for his Scottish accent and sense of humor. He had a smile and a joke for everyone he met and he was a lover of animals, gardening, rugby and golf, but most of all his family and friends.

David is the beloved father of James David Hastings Judge (Kathryn Toole) of Charlotte, NC and Gabrielle Garrish of St. Augustine, FL. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Charlie and Ansley Garrish, and Jay and Kevin Garrish; and several loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Bill Judge and Sally Garwood; and his brothers-in-law, James and Jack Doyle.

Friends are invited to greet David’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 4PM until 5:30PM. His Funeral Service will begin at 5:30PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
