Obituary

Frank E. Onofreo, 75, of Cheshire, beloved husband of 15 years to Cinderella “Cindee” Onofreo, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on September 12, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1951 in Waterbury, CT, to the late Alfred and Adeline Onofreo.

Frank attended Anderson Elementary and Crosby High School, class of ‘71. In his youth, he was a highly gifted basketball player, receiving many awards and often being featured in the local newspaper (which his mother kept clippings of). Tennis was another hobby, and he participated in many local tournaments. He also loved driving his prized 1969 Corvette.

Frank worked as a city bus driver for Northeast Transportation in Meriden for over 30 years. In his 20s, he began learning how to play guitar and sing. In his early 30s, after discovering Kenny Rankin, he was inspired to learn his music and record covers. Music became a lifelong passion, which he shared to the world on the internet and by performing live for intimate gatherings with close friends.

His devotion to music was his biggest avocation and is the heart of how he met his wife and how he connected with his daughter. He also greatly enjoyed taking pictures and videos of family, and always loved experimenting with the newest gadget for both hobbies.

Everyone who visited his home would be greeted with a smile, live guitar playing, and welcomed excitedly by his cherished Pomeranian family; in earlier years, the late Bailey; and in recent years, Smokey, Meeka, Peanut, Charlie, and Mocha.

His humor and perseverance were consistent throughout his life and admired by those who knew him best.

Along with his wife, Frank leaves behind his loving daughter, Paige Onofreo (Alex Harris) and stepson, Kraig Karpowicz. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, John Onofreo.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410. A brief Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705 (please meet at the cemetery).

Help Us Honor Frank Onofreo

With a broken heart, I’m reaching out to ask for support following the heartbreaking loss of my beloved husband, Frank Onofreo.

Frank was deeply loved by our family and friends, and his loss has left an unimaginable emptiness in our lives. As I navigate this devastating time, I am also facing the unexpected financial burden of his funeral and final arrangements.

Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean more to me and my family than words can express. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping us in your thoughts and prayers would mean so much.

Thank you for your love, kindness, and support as we honor Frank and say our final goodbye.
